BUT AFTER DRIVING TO CHARLOTTE ONE AFTERNOON TO SEE A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON IN MY LIFE!! WHO I HAD NOT SEEN IN YEARS!! THAT PERSON WAS LOOKING SO GOOD FOR THEMSELF, HAD THINGS IN ORDER FOR THEMSELF, AND JUST REALLY SEEING THIS GLO OF SUCCESS GLEAM OF THERE FACE, REALLY HAD ME THINKING ABOUT ALL THE TIME, I WASTED TRYING TO LIVE A LIFE THAT DIDNT MEAN ABSOLUTLY NOTHING!! THE PERSON I WENT TO SEE GAVE ME 2000 DOLLARS IN A TIME WHEN IT WAS REALLY NEED,AND NOT LONG AFTER THAT I PACKED UP MY THINGS AND LEFT RALEIGH AND MOVED TO HOUSTON TEXAS,BECAUSE I SAID TO MYSELF IT IS ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE, OUT THERE WHO NEED ME TO BE ABLE TO DO FOR THEM THE SAME THING THAT THIS PARTICULAR PERSON HAD DONE FOR ME!! SO NOW AS WE SPEAK I HAVE LEFT FRIENDS AND THAT OLD LIFE STYLE TO BETTER MYSELF FOR MY FUTURE, AS WELL AS MY CHILDRENS FUTURE! I AM IN MEDICAL SCHOOL STUDING MEDICAL INSURANCE BILLING CODING. NUE SEASON (NUE SEASON ENTERTAINMENT)TELL D WORLD I AM HERE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Marshall, Houston, TX Face Me Story: Last fall, my apartment building caught on fire. I lost my best friend in the fire, my dog Dax. There were only a few things that survived the fire, one of them being my Ike Taylor jersey which was in the washing machine. I wear my Ike jersey for every Steelers game, and each time I put it on I think of the hard times I have overcome and I think of my best friend Dax. - Phil, State College, PA Face Me Story: When I was in eighth grade, my friends and I were getting ready to play football in the High School lever at St. Augustine High School, mainly known for their football program. Well anyways, my friends dad had a hook up with the varsity DB coach there and had us work out wit him just to get prepared. Well the coach brought us to the school one early saturday morning to work out with some of the varsity guys. And we were doing this one on one drill and the wide receiver was the best player on varsity, this real fast and athletic player. The coach asked for volenteers to go up against him, so i went. He did a deep out route and i was right on his side. When he made the cut i was still rite with him and i jumped infront of him and picked it off. I got so much respect from all the varsity guys and the varsity DB coach. Next year as a freshmen, I won BEST DB AWARD. - Joe, San Diego, CA Face Me Story: i used to do alot of stupid things when i was younger, drugs ,drinking driving, just being young and dumb, i hit a speed bump a few weeks after my 21 st b-day, got a dui, got arrested busted with drugs, the worst day of my life, i got accepted into an ard program and completed all of the requirements and got all the charges dropped. i have not messed with anything since then, i got married have 2 beautiful kids and love 2 wake up everyday and spend it with them, thats it. - Mike Face Me Story: Hi Ike I'm your lil cousin on anti judy side. I went to the very first camp you had about 2 years ago.anyways I face my fears like a week ago, when I broke my leg and though that I would never be able to play sports again.but im making a great recovery so see u at camp this year and have a great season.I will vote for u to go the pro bowl. - Diego, Avondale, LA Face Me Story: As a kid, I went to a small catholic school here in Pittsburgh. I never really got to experience the "real world" becasue the rules were very strict at the school, so I never really experienced adversity and was kind of boxed in from the outside. When I graduated 8th grade and was told I would be attending North Allegheny High School, I was very upset and very scared. I didn't know anybody, because all of my friends either went to Catholic High Schools or North Hills High School and I was not accustomed to the public school atmosphere. I was terrified the first day of school, but I toughed it out and survived. Now, I have a ton of friends and am having the time of my life. Attending North Allegheny made me a stronger person and helped me become who I am today. - Matt, Sewickley, PA Face Me Story: I'm the single parent of a teenage daughter and 21 yr old son. I face challenges every day for their future. Raising kids in an environment with war, gangs, sex, drugs, alcohol and weapons on the street is the most difficult challenge. They have to CARE about their own futures. - Wendy, Annandale, VA Face Me Story: I have been a Steelers fan since the 70s. I lived in New Orleans and now live in Lafayette. I had to see who if anyone was a Rajun Cajun. WOW, My boy Ike is! I have always been a fan, but now we share more than the Steelers! Be sure to let us know if a ever make it back out to the Swamp. - Scotty, Maurice, LA Ike, last year the STEELERS came to Arizona to play the Cardinals in a pre-season game. During the game, my son waved at you and you waved back. That was the coolest thing for him. He still talks about it. Christopher used to be a fan of other STEELERS. That moment changed his life forever. He is very athletic. He now wants to be like you!! A proud father always wants his kids to emulate himself, but I made room for you. Thanks for the gesture. When you come to AZ. this season, look us up at Steel Reign BBQ Company in Phoenix. By the way, it is a STEELER themed restaurant!!! Go STEELERS!!! Thanks again. Eric C. StrongIKE is great. I met you at the football spectacular in new jersey at the raritain center. You were awesome talking to me and taking photos as well as autographing my items glad to be part of your website THANK YOU. I LOVE THE STEELERS they are my favorite professional sports team. Ralph, Staten Island, NY Face Me Story: I had the misfortune of losing my 16 yr old daughter Heather in an auto accident. Its hard to find your way back after a loss like that. Eventually you come back to the land of the living but you are never the same person. You learn that every moment is a gift and every person who crosses your path was destined to for a reason. You learn to give from the heart and the true meaning of compassion. I choose to keep moving forward and to give back to those who helped me and supported me in my time of need. I also reach out and embrace those who have had to travel this long lonely journey. Everytime I help someone else I help myself in my daughters memory. - Cindy, Odebolt, Iowa Face Me Story: My names Tiana Lazard. I'm a great singer and I'm popular! Which makes me even more nervous to get on stage and sing. But I get up there all the time and I ROCK!! P.S. I know this is about my story but I'm a big fan!! U ROCK!!!! Tiana, Lake Charles, LA.Face Me Story: In 2003 I was misdiagnosed by a doctor who said I had stomach cramps in actuallity my appendix was rupturing. Thank god for the surgeron who came to my aid at the hospital. He saved my life. I pray every day and it definitly has made me a better person. Ralph, Staten Island, NY Face Me Story: Ike, I just want you to know that no matter what happens this year, I will always support you. You keep working your tail off and you will have not only a monster year, but career also. When all is said and done you will make people forget who Rod Woodson was. Rod was my favorite Steeler until you came on the scene. I admire your dedication and you are a great role model for my son. Best wishes. - Mike, Frederick, MA Face Me Story: I was recently diagnosed with MS. I was very afraid and overwhelmed, but realized things could be much worse. I live in Louisiana and have had some exposure to Katrina and Rita evacuees. They have suffered so much, it makes my problems seem so trivial and petty. I enjoy watching Mr. Taylor play football, thanks for the entertainment. - Anetta, Sulphur, LA Face Me Story: I lost my mom in a car accident on 11/23/1998, three days before Thanksgiving. I had to face my fears and grow up to become my own woman and not depend so much on my mom because she was no longer there as my rock to lean. I did not think that I would ever make it through that day but I am here today and as strong as ever because of GODS GRACE AND MERCY for me and my family. The moral is just because things look impossible right now you will look back on those mountains as Gods way of teaching and helping you to your next level because if you can get over those difficult obstacles the little things will not even move you. - Sarah, Raleigh, NC Face Me Story: I am not the biggest kid around but I play big. Ike isn't the biggest either but he played big in helping the Steelers drive to the Super Bowl. - Anthony, Hanover, PA I had a perfect live for nearly fifteen years. After my sixteenth birthday things got really bad and started going downhill for me. My grades attitude and just life in general. I lived a horrible life for a year... Now I am almost seventeen and things are really looking up for me. I am going to play football next year for my highschool and hope to try out for corner/runningback... Ike, despite you not having a tremendous year this year I really have faith in you to pull through it. Your are my favorite player and an inspiration to me. Keep trying. - Tyler, PA You are my favorite Steeler because you have my first name on the back of your jersey. I hope the start selling your jersey so I can get one. My brothers and parents have different jerseys but I am waiting for your to come out! My soccer, softball and basketball jerseys have 24 and my first name on the back of them. - Taylor, Tracy, CA Face Me Story: I've been scared of heights since the age of 7 when I went up Blackpool Tower in UK (not huge but big enough to scare me to death at age 7!!) Anyway, after a series of steps towards conquering my fear, climbing ladders, walking up Eiffel Tower etc, I completed 3 solo parachute jumps from 3500 feet last year. - Alistair, United Kingdom Face Me Story: In basketball, I never had confidence in myself. I played very poorly because I didn't believe in myself. Then I started believing in myself, and I started playing really good, and to this day I have confidence in my self. - Darius, San Francisco, CA Face Me Story: My whole life has been full of adversity, but I have always continued to be the best I can. In college I ended up getting a full academic scholarship to cover my B.A., M.A. and Phd. When I am told that I can't do something it only makes me work harder. After I finished my MA, I couldn't find a job, so I started my own business. I just believe that you should never let anyone tell you who you can or can't be. You have to be strong and stay positive and that's what will get you ahead in life. - Charela, Coraopolis, PA Face Me Story: My first name is actually Ike. My aunt got me the shirt when I was in Pittsburgh, and I wear the shirt under my jersey in every rugby and football game I play in. I get 9 tackles a game in rugby and I get that confidence and spirit when I put the shirt on. - Ike, West Linn, OR Face Me Story: I lost my dad at 17, and my sister when I was 32. She was 36. I own my own business am married 7 years and have 3 beautiful children. - John, Middlesex, NJ Face Me Story: In high school I was a blonde and captain of the cheerleading squad, but unlike the blonde ditzy cheerleader type, I was on the highest honor roll, on the Deans list,in the National Honor Society and I graduated with high honors. I will be a senior in the fall at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, majoring in Elementary Education. I hope to be a positive influence for young children someday, like Ike Taylor. Also, my father had spinal cord surgery and is disabled. My family has overcome adversities financially, because my parents are able to have two daughters, me and my sister in college. We are greatful to live the in city of Pittsburgh and to have the best football team ever to keep us going each day!!! XOXO Bethne, McKeesport, PA Face Me Story: I was in Childrens hospital in and out and had 5 (five) surgerys done and I'm 13 years old and I face my fears! Go Ike! Go Ike! Go Ike! Go Ike! - Steven, Pittsburgh, PA |
